The objective of development the mobile App MU QC is provide an independent Monitor Units verification tool to ensure adequate accuracy, safety and effectiveness of patient treatment. This App also is available for everyone in the chain of treatment of radiotherapy patient, so as to multiply those involved in the quality control process of treatment. The mobile App use standard dosimetric data published, so this App also allows to compare the dosimetric data acquired by the user, and the correct therapy planning system commissioning.
Because the App can generate a report with the dosimetric parameters used and the deviations found between the TPS's MUs and the MU from the App, MU QC can be easily integrated to a Quality Assurance program of any institution.
The Calculation Formalism and the dosimetric data comes from 258 AAPM report published in 2014 by Task Group 71. This is a protocol for Monitor Unit calculation for photon and electron beams, delivered with and without beam modiﬁers, for constant source-surface distance (SSD) and source-axis distance (SAD) setups. In this protocol highlights the definition of D′o representing the dose per monitor unit under normalization conditions. For photons, this protocol recommended to choose the depth of normalization do = 10 cm, due to its clinical relevance.

DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR RESULTS?
We recommend to use the radiological depth or water equivalent distance, extracted from the therapy planning system for each field to improve your results. The current MU QC version does not has yet enough accuracy for very asymmetric fields or very blocked fields.
